A New Year...The New Adventure Continues Jan 2016

Well our year has begun with a change of location within the walls of our space at 1127 3rd Ave.
Melanie Desjardines is coming upstairs with GROOP GALLERY and I am taking my studio -Philomena Hughes Photography downstairs.
We are always open by a simple phone call but won't be reopening our doors until April 1st ( kind of a play on the fact it will be April Fool's Day and not a joke that we will be open).

Both of us have many endeavors coming up that we are a part of.

 Northern Lights Winter Wine Festival 

Northern Lights Estate Winery would like to welcome you to a new event that will take place during the “Prince George Winter Festival”.  “The Northern Lights Winter Wine Festival” will be Saturday February 13th, 2016 from 11 am to 5 pm.
This will be our 1st Mulled Wine Contest with Teams participating from The Jim Pattison Broadcast Group, Ohh Chocolate and The City of Prince George just to name a few.  The mulled wine event is a ticketed event costing $20.00  with two time periods to choose, either 12-2 or 2-4, with partial proceeds going to the Railway Museum.
White Goose Bistro will be onsite as well as seven of Prince George’s well known Artisan’s selling their products during the day.

Tickets will be on Sale Feb 2nd at Northern Lights Estate Winery, Ohh Chocolate and the Railway Museum.

Open House Dec 12th Gallery Studio 1127 3rd Ave

While You are doing your Shopping and strolling around downtown before or after Farmer's Market come check out the Gallery Studio . We are sharing the Christmas Cheer so come eat drink and be Merry and see some of our new gift ideas. I am introducing a  New  Mini Art Line that can be used as a card but I think they are more than that...come see for yourself!

Photography Classses Nov 2 with Philomena

Photography
It is a subject I find many many people love to talk about and ask  me questions about.
I know it isn't hard to imagine "me" wanting to listen right?! Eventually  they ask if I ever
teach and I have had to say not at this time.  But I now have some time to do so.
It has been many years since I last
taught at night school up at the University for their Continuing Ed Program. I am not
teaching back there but rather at my our studio.
I wanted to do this at our new location at 1127 3rd Ave.
We start  Nov.2
at 7pm for 2 hours for the next 4 weeks.

We have space for just one more ( max is 5). It is how to work with studio lights.Cost is $150 for the 4 Monday at 7pm-9pm.

I will be doing one next year only again sometime in the spring though not sure of the date
at this time. It will be an outdoor composition and posing class.

If you know of someone or are someone who is interested I am taking names for the next one
and again it will be limited this time to 7 for the spring one.

Can't tell you what happened to October other than I remember alot of packing boxes and preparing
the house where our studio has been of nearly 20 years, for sale. We have an offer and if all goes well
it will be sold in the next few days.

Our new Location  is 1217 3rd Ave.Nearer to the Courthouse end of 3rd Ave. Groop Gallery has been there for 5 years but I am the new gal on the block.
There used to be a Black gate...but now cream so easy to find..and now my signage is there too.
Hazelwood Signs did the signs for me so thanks so much.
Join us for tea /coffee and  a slice of cake ( come early for that at 10am!!) and have a look around at our new digs
Oh and LISTEN to CFIS-FM PG 93-1 local station at 9am this Friday morning as Mel and I will be on their morning show with Lisa Redman.

Getting closer to our opening date 2 days away!!

Lots of changes means lots of work so as you can see i was getting down and dirty with gardening friend Val and my 85 year old Mom. She also was my "model" testing the setup for lights in the new Studio Gallery - caught her taking a nap while waiting for me to "figure things out".

Can you believe how fast this summer came and went? Honestly it has been a full one for so many people including me. Got a dream trip to New York in after our daughter graduated from high school.
Then made a BIG decision about selling the current location and moving into a new one downtown so as of Sept 12th I will be at 1217 3rd Ave sharing a space with Groop Gallery! We are having a grand opening day on Sept 12th so come down and see us and if you know someone or are someone looking for a beautiful home in the Crescents its for sale privately. Thinking of You Dads!!

I have been always so impressed with the men who have come into my studio for these sessions with their newborn children. We have plans but babies do too...and they don't always align. Unless we wait and be patient as did this wonderful (experienced) father. To all you Fathers Old, New and those to be...I wish you all the best throughout the year but know that this Sunday we salute each of you.   These are the raw images directly out of the camera. Knock Knock, Guess Who?

Totally Did NOT expect to see these guys at my door today. I did check to see if there was a fire behind me that I was not aware of ( just kidding). Theses are some of the guys I worked on the Fireman's Calendar Project last year as a fundraiser for the  Burn Unit In the Lower Mainland for all residents of BC. They dropped by to bring me a gift of the framed signed cover of the calendar to say thank you . Quite the surprise to say the least.  They said it made them about 13,000 so thank you to all who supported them. They have a book coming out soon for another fundraiser so watch out for that. Can't wait to see what the next project will be !!! Stay tuned.
